Warm-air heating in the rotor blade

Rotor blades are subject to large temperature fluctuations and moisture which can lead to ice formation, ice shedding, and an impairment of the aerodynamic features of the blades in winter. That is why the warm air heating system continuously monitors the temperature of the rotor blades using precise sensor technology and controls the heating process to prevent icing at an early stage.

Protection against ice buildup

Durable surface or push-in RTD temperature probes from JUMO are used to monitor the temperature in the rotor blades. They precisely measure the temperature of the rotor blades and, if necessary, the outside temperature, so that the warm air heating in the rotor blade can be switched on or off as required. Panel-mounted thermostats, safety temperature limiters, and thyristor power controllers are used to control and monitor heating systems.
